MITCHELL PRENTICE
SAXOPHONE, CLARINET & FLUTE
Mitchell Prentice is a Canadian Tenor Saxophonist born and raised in Calgary Alberta, Canada. Growing up, Mitchell enjoyed listening to the classic rock sounds of Led Zeppelin, Cream, Pink Floyd and Rush before discovering jazz. Mitchell graduated from MacEwan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance under the tutelage of Jerrold Dubyk. Mitchell’s musical influences include his idol Sonny Rollins as well as, Stan Getz, John Coltrane and Michael Brecker. In March 2024, Mitchell made his debut performance as part of the Yardbird Suites Emerging Artist series and was the opening act for saxophonist Jeff Antoniuk at Edmonton’s 2024 JazzFest. Mitchell released his EP titled “The Watchman's Message” in July 2024. Mitchell now resides in Calgary, Alberta and is pursuing musical opportunities in his home and has recently worked as a sideman for local musicians Rome IX, Marcus Trummer and Matt Blais. He has collaborated with Jon McCaslin on the 9th volume of the Calgary jazz composers collective and performed with the Timothonius Quartet at the 2025 Fall Calgary Jazz Festival.
