SONGWRITING SESSIONS WITH LAUREN TIVADOR

Join us for our Songwriting Sessions/Songwriting Circle, a dynamic group class designed to ignite your creativity and nurture your songwriting skills. These sessions take place bi-weekly, allowing students ample time to develop their ideas and fostering a relaxed environment that eases the pressure often associated with the songwriting process.

Throughout the class, we will focus on several key aspects of songwriting. First, we will delve into chord structure and explore how chords function within music, providing you with the tools to craft captivating melodies. Through engaging ear training exercises, you will sharpen your ability to listen to songs and decipher their chord progressions, enhancing your musical intuition.

No prior experience or knowledge is necessary to attend our songwriting sessions. We welcome students of all levels, ensuring that everyone can participate and contribute to the creative process. While there will be an element of theory and improvisation, our primary goal is to foster a supportive and inclusive environment where you can freely express your musical ideas.

One of the highlights of our songwriting sessions is the breakdown of well-written songs. We will analyze what makes these songs exceptional, and students are encouraged to bring in and present songs they admire. By studying and deconstructing these songs, you will gain valuable insights into songwriting techniques and concepts, inspiring you to apply them to your own compositions.

Collaborative songwriting is a core component of our program. Students will have the opportunity to form groups and engage in collaborative songwriting exercises. This collaborative approach encourages teamwork and creativity and exposes you to different perspectives and styles, fostering personal growth as a songwriter.

Our songwriting sessions are open to both singers and instrumentalists, welcoming individuals with diverse musical backgrounds. We especially encourage those who play multiple instruments or singers who also play piano or guitar to join us, as this diversity enriches the collaborative experience and encourages cross-instrumental exploration.

To celebrate your progress and provide a platform for your songs to shine, we will organize a showcase every 2-3 months. This showcase will allow you to perform the songs you have been diligently crafting, sharing your unique voice with an appreciative audience. It's a valuable opportunity to gain performance experience and receive feedback while celebrating your achievements as a songwriter.

Whether you're a seasoned songwriter or just beginning your musical journey, our songwriting sessions offer a supportive and inspiring space to nurture your creativity.
