KEN DRABINSKY
SAXOPHONE (ALTO, TENOR,BASS) AEROPHONE
Ken’s philosophy is to create opportunities to reach into the
community to bring joy to all music lovers. Ken’s expertise is brought
to bear in gathering talented musicians and great music charts in the
evolution of EH TRAIN Music Ensembles consisting of an octet, sax
quartet, Jazz vocal quartet and Duo.
This was born out of many decades of performing with local bands,
and musicians that are all part of Calgary’s music history….beginning
with the awesome Roy Dow (Viscount Bennett HS) and
• Enterprise in the 1970’s (Ron Casat on keyboards)
• Dan Butala’s Foothills Concert Band
• U of C Jazz Band under Ward Cole (together with the fabulous
Eric Friedenberg on lead sax)
• the early Doug Fox Big Band
• Westwinds Jazz Orchestra
• Hippocratic Oath Big Band & numerous community bands
• Ken joined many unique rehearsal sessions lead by drummer
Gary de Boeck and with keyboards guru ‘Bob Erlendson and
Friends’
.
• Ken now manages and performs with his latest group,
EH TRAIN Music Ensembles (www.ehtrain.ca)
After a long successful career in geology, Ken enjoys giving back to
the community by teaching students to appreciate the saxophone and
aerophone through encouragement, enthusiasm, and passion for
music.
